MADISON - Wisconsin Public Service Corporation will have to pay 80-thousand dollars in air pollution fines.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says WPSC violated its Wisconsin air pollution control permit.

A company that has the potential to release a lot of pollutants has to have an air pollution control permit from the DNR.

A judge ruled Wisconsin Public Service violated its permit for its Rothschild coal fired power plants.

It submitted reports to the DNR that said it released more carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide than is allowed.

It also failed to use a required pollution control device.
