Aspirus Pleasant View prepares for a big makeover
PHILLIPS - You can't beat the comfort of Home Sweet Home but as we get older, many of us need special care that only a nursing home can offer.

Aspirus Pleasant View's campus in Phillips is getting a 3-point-9 million-dollar renovation. This will make it feel more like home to its 60 residents. The campus will get new heating, air conditioning, fire alarms, lounges, and technology. In addition all resident rooms will get a private shower.

"We want it to be a facility that a son or daughter would like to have their parents or loved ones come to to receive their care," says Jerry Frese, Pleasant View Administrator.

The campus has three wings set to be renovated. The wings will be remodeled one-by-one. Each wing takes about 3 months to finish.

"We will be relocating residents off of each wing as it comes up for renovation. So there will be some inconvenience for the family members and staff but the end product will be well worth the inconvenience."

Aspirus hopes to start the renovation by December. Everything should be finished in July 2014.

"It's just a really good opportunity to see what the education pathway looks like for manufacturing, but then also that end game at the very end to see what the sacrifice was worth when you look at employment opportunities," said Nicolet College Career Coach Angeline Kesler.

MERRILL - As soon as two days after police found 55-year-old Kevin Monroe dead in a Merrill home in January 2016, they started treating the death as a homicide.

But for the next year and a half, no one was charged in the case.

That changed on Friday, when the county prosecutor charged Monroe's 21-year-old son, Tyler, with his father's murder.
