Woman pleads insanity for trying to kill her kidsSubmitted: 07/23/2013

MEDFORD - A central Wisconsin woman accused of trying to kill four of her children uses the insanity plea.

Thirty-seven-year-old Heidi Mann of Rib Lake reportedly wanted to spare the kids the pain of a divorce.

She's being held on 200-thousand dollars bond.

Online court records say she entered two pleas Monday: not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

She'll now be evaluated by a mental-health professional.

She's accused of putting her four youngest kids in an SUV and letting the engine run in a closed garage for two hours.

Prosecutors say she was worried they couldn't handle her divorce.

The children survived without any apparent effects.

They're 3, 6 and 9 and 12.
