New website helps bring in tourist to the NorthwoodsSubmitted: 07/10/2013

MERRILL - Everybody knows the Northwoods is the place to be in the summer.

But knowing about ALL the great activities around the entire area can be hard.

Five Northwoods counties can now make that easier.

The department of tourism donated 15 thousand dollars to the group.

It includes Oneida, Vilas, Langlade, Lincoln and Forest Counties.

They'll use the money to create a unique website.

The group hopes it will bring a three percent increase for fall tourism.

"We took a little different spin on it by creating characters. We call them personality types that folks can actually click on to find their Northwoods personality type," said Chamber Executive Director, Debbe Kinsey.

"Then we put together itineraries for each of those different personality types for our counties and areas."

Now, Jared could study at Interlochen Center For The Arts near Traverse City, Michigan, for his four years of high school.

SPIRIT - On Monday, Edwin Blomberg stood at a podium and delivered Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address to a crowded Spirit Town Hall in southern Price County.

But there was nothing on the podium.

Blomberg, well into his 90s, recited the the speech completely from memory.

The fire started in the back bedroom of Vicki Doud's home.

All 10 residents of the home were there when the fire started. Everyone got out safely, but the inside is a charred mess.
