Governor Walker signs state budget, releases list of vetoesSubmitted: 06/30/2013
Story By Associated Press

MADISON - Today Governor Scott Walker signed the 2013 to 2015 state budget into law. There were 57 vetoes in all. One has journalists in the state celebrating.

Walker denied a provision in the budget that would have kicked the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism off the University of Wisconsin - Madison's campus.

He also vetoed a provision that would have allowed bounty hunters in the state. Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says Walker did the right thing by listening to the concerns of law enforcement.

The major priorities of the budget remained unchanged, including a $650 million income tax cut, rejection of federal Medicaid expansion, and expanding private school vouchers statewide.

The Governor says the state will have a $500 million budget surplus when the new fiscal year starts tomorrow.
