FitzPatrick run among Wisconsin's bestSubmitted: 06/10/2013

LISLE, IL - 2 weeks ago, Lakeland grad Delaney FitzPatrick won her second state championship.

Now, she is one of the fastest runners in state history.

FitzPatrick ran the 800 meter run at the Midwest Distance festival in Lisle, IL. Delaney is in the black, and finsihed second in last weekend's race.

Her time was 2 minutes, 11.8 seconds. It shaved 4 and a half seconds off her personal best time. It's also the 9th fastest time ever by a runner from Wisconsin.



The list includes former Badger and Olympian Suzy Favor Hamilton.

Delaney will actually compete for a spot on the U-S Junior National team next week. She could compete at the Pan-Am Junior games in Columbia later this summer. Former T-Bird Marquis Johnson will also be at the Junior Nationals.

Delaney will run both cross country and track and field for Yale.

It's just one of the things that have changed over the decades in Phelps. The only medical clinic only bank left Phelps within the last few years. A grocery store and hardware store have been absent even longer.
