Suspected Drunken Driver Finds Pond with TruckSubmitted: 05/10/2013
Story By Lyndsey Stemm

STEVENS POINT - The Portage County Sheriff's Office wants help finding a man they think drove a truck into a pond.

Police think Michael Finch drunkenly stole his business partner's truck late Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Sometime early Thursday police think he drove it into Jordan Pond, near Jordan Park.

But then he showed up at his business partner's hotel room.

"He presents himself back at the hotel where the registered owner of the truck is, asks the individual where his truck was. That guy seemed surprised. Said, 'it was in in the parking lot at eight o'clock where I left it'. He says, 'it's not there now'. Then the owner of the truck notices the guy is dirty and disheveled and bleeding, asks him about it, and the guy disappears," says Portage County Sheriff's Lt. Michael Morgan.

Finch is about 30 years old, and from the Green Bay Area.

The Sheriff's Department says they'll likely charge him with a number of traffic offenses, and community corrections in Green Bay will be putting a warrant out for his arrest.
