Mosinee, Chequamegon, Laona/Wabeno among #1 Softball SeedsSubmitted: 05/09/2013

- Rain is falling in most of the viewing area. Perfect weather to talk about softball playoffs.

The WIAA released the pairings for three of the four divisions.

Division One will be announced after the coaches meeting next week.

In Division 2, Mosinee is the top seed in their regional.

Meanwhile Northland Pines is a 5 seed. The Eagles are in Antigo next Thursday. The winner will meet Mosinee.


Phelps earned a 5 seed in a Division 4 regional. The Lady Knights are at Goodman-Pembine. The winner takes on the #1 seed Wausaukee.

Chequamegon, and Laona/Wabeno earned #1 spots in Division 3. Newman Catholic is also a #1 seed in Division 4.

RHINELANDER - A crash sent a driver to the hospital in Rhinelander Tuesday morning.

Police say a man driving a pickup truck ran into a parked car on Evergreen Court around 9 a.m.

The crash threw the parked car into a front yard.  No one else was hurt.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital, but have not yet released his name or injuries.

Police won't yet say what caused the crash.

WAUSAU - The name sounds scarier than most of the symptoms would suggest, but doctors take West Nile virus seriously.

This week, a dead crow in Marathon County tested positive for West Nile. The Marathon County Health Department reported the discovery Monday. Counties look mainly at crows, blue jays, and ravens to find the virus. It is spread mostly through mosquito bites.
