Walker names Chief Deputy Parks new Marathon Co. SheriffSubmitted: 05/08/2013

WAUSAU - The Marathon County Sheriff's Office could use an image makeover. A year filled with a legal investigation into the sheriff's wife, the sheriff himself resigning and a brutal jail attack will do that.

But a newly named sheriff might be the one to rebuild the department.

Governor Walker named Chief Deputy Scott Parks as the new Marathon County Sheriff today.

Parks has been with the county for the last 33 years.

He's worked as the highway traffic safety coordinator, led the special response team and spent time on the special investigations unit. He became Chief Deputy in 2007.

Governor Walker called Parks a calm and compassionate leader.

We'll get a chance to meet Parks at a swearing-in ceremony Thursday morning.
