Nicolet College Names New Student AmbassadorSubmitted: 04/11/2013
Story By Lyndsey Stemm

RHINELANDER - Finding the resources you need at a new school can be challenging. Nicolet Technical College Students will soon have a new Student Ambassador to help them learn the ropes.

Each year all 16 Wisconsin Technical Colleges chose a student for the role. The ambassadors help promote the schools to prospective students.

But Tony Bellman says he also wants to be sure students know what scholarships and other resources are available to them. Bellman says being an older student will help him, help others.

"I understand how intimidating college can be for a younger person. I'm already 20 years into life so it's a little easier for me to figure out my way, and I'm not afraid to ask questions. Whereas, I find younger students are indeed scare to ask questions. When I first came here, I think the best piece of advice that I got was to be your own advocate," says Bellman.

Bellman is an information technology major and plans to continue on to UW-Stout. He was already a student representative on the Nicolet College Board of Trustees.

Bellman will travel to Madison later this month for a conference with all 16 technical college student ambassadors.
