GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers' preseason schedule is highlighted by a nationally televised contest at Lambeau Field against the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, Aug. 23. The preliminary schedule was released by the National Football League on Thursday.

Specific dates and times to be announced

The Packers open the preseason against the Arizona Cardinals at Lambeau Field after last hosting the Cardinals during the preseason in 2011. This contest will be the 23rd all-time preseason meeting between the two franchises and fourth since the Cardinals moved to Arizona prior to the 1988 season. The teams' first-ever preseason meeting featured the Packers against the Chicago Cardinals on Aug. 16, 1950.

In Week 2 of the preseason, Green Bay will travel to St. Louis to face the Rams. The last time the Packers visited St. Louis for a preseason game, it was to face the St. Louis Cardinals prior to the 1983 season. The game will mark the first preseason meeting between these two franchises since the Rams moved to St. Louis prior to the 1995 season. The last time the two clubs met in the preseason, the Packers faced the Los Angeles Rams in Madison, Wis., on Aug.
6, 1994, at Camp Randall Stadium.

The fifth preseason meeting between the Packers and the Seattle Seahawks will be the fourth in the last 10 years between the two teams. It will be the Seahawks' first preseason trip to Lambeau Field since 2007. Over the past 21 preseasons, the Packers have appeared on national TV at least once in 20 of
those years. CBS will broadcast the game.

The preseason concludes with a road contest against the Kansas City Chiefs, the fourth straight year the teams will have met in the preseason finale and the second time at Arrowhead Stadium.

MERRILL - The first community warming center in Merrill is set to open in less than two weeks. However, Merrill Area United Way organizers still need volunteers to help manage the center.

The group recently re-fit the former Lincoln Community Bank Drive-Thru on W. Main Street in Merrill to serve as the center. It will help homeless people stay warm from November to April at night. The Lincoln County Homelessness Task Force reported more than 20 homeless living in the area as recently as July.

Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School needs technology and infrastructure upgrades. One of the school's buildings hasn't been updated since the 1950s.

School leaders think it's important to also upgrade the school's wireless ability. The school has SmartBoards, iPads, and laptops, but they want the equipment to work better.

ST. GERMAIN - The winner of a huge Northwoods land auction will end up getting nothing.

The parent company of Wisconsin Public Service won't go through with the sale of its large lakefront property, Eaglewatch, in St. Germain.

Integrys declined a $3.8 million bid for the 187-acre property.

It held the auction last month to sell off the land.

That property also has 10,000 feet of lake frontage.
