State Might Not File Charges in Suspect's Death in Squad CarSubmitted: 03/28/2013

MILWAUKEE - Last summer a man died gasping for breath in the back of a Milwaukee squad car.

Now comes word there may be no state charges against three officers involved in the case.

The girlfriend of the man who died says a special prosecutor has told family members about the decision.

An inquest jury last month recommended a misdemeanor charge of failure to render aid against the officers.

The jury's decision was advisory.

Derek Williams died in July 2011.

Sharday Rose says prosecutor John Franke told the family Wednesday night that he could not prove a case against the officers.

Rose says Franke plans to publicly announce his decision Today.

Two federal investigations into the death remain open.
