Woodruff Votes Down Helicopter LocationSubmitted: 03/27/2013

WOODRUFF - Ministry Health Care wanted to move the home of their Ministry Spirit 2 Helicopter to Woodruff.

But the Town of Woodruff is saying "no".

Ministry wanted to make the Howard Young Medical Center the main location for the helicopter.

Right now, it's at the Oneida County Airport in Rhinelander.

That move was planned after a study by Ministry.

The study found Woodruff would be the central location serving the most people the quickest in emergencies.

But Woodruff's Town Board voted 4-1 to deny Ministry a conditional use permit.

Area residents have had concerns, including noise created by a potential chopper.

The question will now go before Oneida County's Zoning Committee.
