US 51 Project in Minocqua ready to start April 1Submitted: 03/20/2013
Story By Shardaa Gray

MINOCQUA - The Minocqua community will see some changes to Highway 51 soon. A big construction project will begin Monday, April 1st.

It will start on US-51 between Front Street and Old Highway 70.

This project will add new street lights, replacing storm water lines, update sidewalks and bike paths and replace the current five lane cross-section with new asphalt pavement.

The DOT will also install a crosswalk just south of Rogers drive. Stage one will happen from April first to June 28th.

The second stage will run from September third to late November. It will likely cause plenty of traffic headaches. For the majority of the traffic construction, at least one lane of traffic will be open in each direction.

The project is supposed to be done by late November this year.

There will be no construction activities on the roads during the month of July and August.
