RHINELANDER - The Rhinelander man who shot a neighbor's dog with a crossbow will head to jail for 45 days.

Police arrested 53-year-old Richard Cooper in January 2012 after his neighbor found his lab injured by a crossbow bolt.

Cooper was originally charged with two felonies, but pleaded one of them down to a misdemeanor as part of a deal with prosecutors.

Cooper also pleaded to a marijuana possession felony. He will also have to pay restitution and will need to go through AODA counseling.

Cooper needs to report to the Oneida County Jail by Saturday.
