Gov. Walker will sign mining bill in Rhinelander MondaySubmitted: 03/08/2013
Story By Lane Kimble

MADISON - Governor Walker will sign the GOP's controversial mining bill Monday in Rhinelander.

The Governor's office announced the date Friday afternoon. Walker will sign the bill into law at the Oldenburg Group in Rhinelander around 1 p.m.

The state Assembly passed the bill Thursday night on a 58-39 vote.

Democrats claim it looses environmental restrictions too much. They're vowing to tie up the law in courts.

Republicans hope the law helps attract mining companies to a huge iron ore deposit on the Iron-Ashland county border.
