RHINELANDER - The Minocqua man accused of choking a child with a popsicle will go to jail for the next three months.

45-year-old Daniel Stevens reached a deal with prosecutors in Oneida County court today.

He was charged last July for shoving a popsicle down down a child's throat during dinner. He also was accused of routinely picking the kids up by the neck to spank them.

Prosecutors agreed to change or dismiss some of the felony charges. Felony child abuse was changed to misdemeanor battery.

A strangulation and suffocation felony was dropped.

Another felony child abuse charge will sit while Stevens goes through two years of probation.

He also will have to complete community service.

Stevens must report to jail by Monday, March 18th.
