Semi Slides off Interstate Into RiverSubmitted: 03/05/2013
Story By The Associated Press

MENOMONIE - Slippery travel conditions caused a semi to slide off Interstate 94 near Menomonie and into a river.

Troopers have closed all eastbound lanes of I-94 at Highway 25 because of the crash Tuesday morning.

The patrol has called in a dive team because the semi landed in the Red Cedar River.

There's no immediate word on the condition of the driver.

A slow-moving winter storm is expected to drop up to a foot of snow in parts of western Wisconsin through Tuesday.

The storm caused dozens of schools to cancel classes, including the districts of La Crosse, Black River Falls, Toman and Prairie du Chien.

The Univeristy of Wisconsin-Platteville and Viterbo University in La Crosse also called off classes Tuesday as travel conditions deteriorated.
