Northwoods Spotlight: Northwoods Birkie Skiiers
HAYWARD - The Nation's largest Nordic ski race calls Wisconsin home - the American Birkebeiner.

Last weekend was the 40th anniversary. Some northwoods folks participated in the historic race.

40 years. 54 Kilometers. 10,000 skiiers. These are the numbers behind North America's Largest nordic ski race - the Ameican Birkebeiner.

Eagle River native Tim Laird was also there. He's skiied the race from Cable, Wisconsin to Hayward for 18 years. He's saved the race banners and pins he' earned over the years.

For some it's a family event, while others, it's about the challenge. But many who take part, have the same outlook for next year.

Our Northwoods climate can leave many people lacking Vitamin D in particular.

"Vitamin D: It is lacking up here. We are all bundled up. We also have a lack of sunshine and our skin isn't exposed to the sun and a lot of people are dealing with winter blues," says Dr. Kelley Embree at Hometown Chiropractic Center.

Hometown Chiropractic plans to host monthly health talks.

The next class on vitamins is January 24th at 6:00 p .m at the Tomahawk location.
