Marshfield man accused of homicide will face solicitation chargeSubmitted: 02/26/2013
Story By WJFW News Team

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - A Marshfield man already finds himself potentially staring at life in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend.

Now, he could get even more prison time for trying to hire a former inmate as a hitman.

21-year-old Gabriel Campos was back in Wood County Court today. Police arrested him in September when his ex-girlfriend was found murderded in her Marshfield home.

But police say he didn't stop there. A fellow inmate claims Campos admitted to the murder.

He says Campos then tried to hire the inmate to kill his victim's boyfriend.

Campos offered him 46 hundred dollars cash, a rifle and a car as payment.

A Police witness testified today that the inmate told him the entire story. Prosecutors also pulled jail phone records showing Campos had called the inmate several times.

The judge found there was enough evidence against Campos to move forward with a homicide solicitation charge. He'll be back in court in May.
