Northland Pines Considering Coaching ChangeSubmitted: 02/22/2013
Story By Joe Dufek

EAGLE RIVER - Northland Pines might be looking for a new boys basketball coach. Ryan Clark just completed his eighth season with the Eagles.

Northland Pines finished a 2-win season in a loss in the regional quarterfinals on Tuesday in Clintonville.

According to multiple sources, Clark was asked to resign or face the possibility of not having his contract renewed at Monday's school board meeting.

In the last 7 seasons, Clark has won a total of 26 games. Records for his first season were not immediately available.

Northland Pines has an enrollment of just over 500 students. That's just over half of Rhinelander and Antigo's enrollment.

Ryan told Newswatch 12 Thusday, "I feel like I let a lot of people down."

He also expressed difficulties in trying to elevate the basketball program. Northland Pines is well known for it's hockey programs.

A call to Northland Pines District Administrator Mike Richie was not immediately returned.

Parents are encouraged to have their say at Monday's school board meeting. It begins at 6pm at Northland Pines High School.

According to the W-I-A-A, Eagle River's only state tourney appearances were in 1924 and 1936.
