Local Library Raising Money For New ElevatorSubmitted: 02/17/2013
Story By Shardaa Gray

PLUM LAKE - One local library needs your help raising money for a new elevator.

The Plum Lake Library is fundraising to make their basement handicap accessible and add space to the library.

One of the ways they raised some money this weekend was with a snowshoe race.

Library director Ida Nemec attempted to raise money last summer with a different event, but was unsuccessful.

"We had an event in the summer that was a fitness festival that did not go over very well. There's so many things going on in the summer," said Nemec.

"So we thought we'd try something in the winter when there isn't as much to do. you know you love the northwoods and you want to make take advantage of what the northwoods has to offer."

Even though Amy Reuling came in first place, that's not what this event was about.

"I did come in first, but I think that ultimately today the library comes in first place," said Reuling.

"Because they're making the money here and that's what it's all about."

The library plans to hold the snowshoe race again next year, but up next they'll have a trivia contest March 7th at the Plum Lake Recreation Building.
