Gov. Walker Says He'll Increase School FundingSubmitted: 02/17/2013
Story By Associated Press

MADISON - Governor Scott Walker says he'll increase funding for public schools in his budget address to the Legislature Wednesday.

He'll also offer targeted incentives that can be used for teacher bonuses.

Walker is also increasing funding for the University of Wisconsin System and technical colleges two years after their funding was slashed.

The roughly one percent increase in aid to schools comes after Walker cut aid by more than eight percent in the first year of the last budget.

Democratic Representative Sondy Pope says the money won't be enough to help struggling schools.
