Player of the Week Nominees 2-11Submitted: 02/11/2013

THE NORTHWOODS - High school athletes are busy gearing up for the end of the winter sports season. We received many nominees from you at home. Here are the finalists for Newswatch 12 Player of the Week.

Nominee One -

In wrestling, Crandon's Hayden Krueger took the 145 pound title in a D3 regional on Saturday. Krueger had wins by pin and technical fall and also picked up his 150th high school victory for the Cardinals and is ranked third in the state.



Nominee Two -

Tomahawk's Jessie Harmon keeps raining 3's for the girls basketball team. She tied her own single game record with 5 three pointers against Wausau East. Harmon broke the single season record of 33 from beyond the arc, and now has 36 for her junior season.

Nominee Three -

Back to the mat. Merrill's Tyler Schmidt won the 220 pound title at a D1 regional Saturday. Schmidt had wins by pin and decision. Tyler is undefeated on the season and ranked 2nd in the state.

Nominee Four -

And the Nordic Ski Championships were held over the weekend. On Saturday, Lakeland's Delaney FitzPatrick finished 2nd in the classic race. Then after starting 47 seconds behind the leader in the skate race Sunday, she made a pass and won the State Championship by 10 seconds.

To vote on any of the nominees go to the sports poll at wjfw.com. Voting ends at 3pm on Friday. The winner will receive a plaque from
R and D Trophies of Tomahawk.

RHINELANDER - North Brown Street is now open and parking is also available. It has parallel parking spots and angled spots. Restaurants have already noticed an increase in business after the street opened late last week.

LANGLADE COUNTY - It's a long season for the carnival.

"Twenty-one weeks of summer," said A + P Enterprise manager Pauline Kedrowicz.

From May to September, A + P Enterprise, based near Stevens Point, puts on carnivals in Wisconsin. This weekend it's at the Langlade County Fair.

LINCOLN COUNTY - We expect an 85-year-old Antigo woman to be charged next month for the death of a Lincoln County highway worker last summer.

According to online court records, Mary Robinson is expected to face a charge of Homicide by Negligent use of a Vehicle.

MADISON - A federal judge has refused to stay his order allowing Wisconsin residents to vote without photo identification while state attorneys appeal the decision.

U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman in Milwaukee issued a preliminary injunction this month allowing people who haven't been able to obtain IDs to vote in the Nov. 8 election if they sign an affidavit explaining why they couldn't get the identification.
