Teenager stabs man several times in Forest County
CRANDON - A Northwoods teenager stabbed a man early this morning and then hid from police.

Forest County Sheriff's Deputies searched briefly for the 16-year-old in the Town of Lincoln, that's near Crandon.

They arrested him on first degree attempted intentional homicide charges.

The boy is accused of stabbing a man several times early this morning.

Doctors are treating the victim at Ministry St. Mary's hosptial.

Sheriff John Dennee does not think there are any other suspects. He says there's no threat to the community.

MADISON - Governor Scott Walker says he and Republicans who control the Legislature have reached a deal "in principle" over transportation funding and other issues to end an impasse that's held up passage of the state budget.

Walker said Tuesday that the deal does not include any gas tax or vehicle registration fee increases.

Police Chief Andrew Smith says the police station was evacuated Monday afternoon.

The heating and air conditioning system was shut down while the fire department investigated.

Volunteers from the Northwoods Land Trust are hosting a Deerskin River Paddle and Preserve float trip that lets people get out of their boats and get up close and personal with protected lands.

WAUKESHA - One of two teenagers charged with repeatedly stabbing a classmate to impress a fictitious horror character called Slender Man has decided to plead guilty to a lesser charge.

Fifteen-year-old Anissa Weier pleaded guilty Monday to attempted second-degree homicide as a party to a crime, with use of a deadly weapon.

WAUSAU - Robert Kraig was unequivocal in Wausau on Monday.

"This is a horrible way to spend $3 billion," said the executive director of Citizen Action of Wisconsin at an event.

Citizen Action is strongly against the $3 billion in state tax incentives offered to Foxconn. The Taiwanese company plans to build a $10 billion electronics plant in southeastern Wisconsin. The state Assembly approved the plan by a 59-30 vote last week.
