Burning Permit Required if There's Under One Inch of SnowSubmitted: 01/17/2013
Story By Shardaa Gray

RHINELANDER - You see plenty of burn piles around the Northwoods.

But with barely any snow on the ground, you should have a burning permit.

The law says you must have a permit if there's under a inch of snow.

John Gillen is a Forest Ranger with the DNR.

He says he doesn't want the community to deal with noxious fumes when it comes to burning materials.

"It's still warned good judgment on the folks is part to make sure that they're burning legal materials. Garbage can't be burned. Tires. Anything of that nature." said Gillen.

Gillen reminds you to be courteous to your neighbors when burning materials.

Never burn any painted or stained burnish wood.
