EAGLE RIVER - The first weekend of championship snowmobile racing in Eagle River is in the books. Sunday was the final day of the Vintage World Championships.

The sleds are 1985 models and older.

Among Sunday's results, a pair of Northwoods drivers earned victories.

In the 440 Sport Mod - Jeff Stoxen of Rhinelander was the winner.

Meanwhile, Jesse Wergin of Minocqua captured the 440 Sno-Cross Fan championship.

Racing at Eagle River Derby Track is pretty cool. Winning is even better.

Next weekend is the 50th World Championship Snowmobile Derby.
Tomahawk native Nick Van Strydonk won last year's World Championship and returns to defend his title.

Racing begins with time trials on Thursday. The event ends next Sunday.
