RHINELANDER - Most of us know we should get a flu shot ever year. But this year, it's even more important.

Flu cases are on the rise in the Northwoods. That's why the Oneida County Health Department wants everyone to take precautions. The Health Department wants everyone to know it's never too late to get your flu shot.

"Getting your flu shot is the best way to protect against getting the flu. And again, it is never too late to get your flu shot to help protect you," says Rob Deede, RN.

The Oneida County Health Department is still offering flu shots. It's something they don't usually do in mid-January. Children under 18, pregnant women, and people 50 years or older are most likely to catch the flu. But they're not the only ones who should get the shot.

"Everyone six months and old, can and should get the flu shot. Especially those with medical conditions or would get sick easier than others," said Deede.

You can walk in anytime from 8:30 to 4:00 next Monday through Friday. The flu shot is 25 dollars and is covered by some medical insurances. For more information visit the Oneida County Health Department website or call them at (715) 369-6111.

After a few months, the classroom is finally finished, and it's being dedicated to a woman who left a big impact on the community.

Friends and family got together to remember Sandra Brown, who shared her love of art with the Land O Lakes community. She passed away in 2010.

Sandra gave her time and skills to areas that didn't have art programs, and they found a way to show their appreciation.

"The space has been enlarged greatly," said LOLA President Lynn Richie. "It was a coffee shop originally. And it's being dedicated to Sandra Hardy Brown, who was instrumental in bringing us money through a memorial fund when she passed away, and it helped kick start our art classes."
