CRANDON, MINOCQUA - In football, Crandon senior running back and linebacker Hayden Krueger rushed for state-leading 2006 yards in the regular season. He also ran for 21 touchdowns. He was also among the Northwoods top defensive stars. Krueger was the leader in tackles for the Cardinals.
In girls swimming, Lakeland senior Carolyn Kelk finished her second straight trip to Madison with a 6th place finish in the 100 yard free style. She also earned a 10th place finish in the 200 yard free. She was the Great Northern Conference's First Team in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle.
Other Newswatch 12 Players of the Year for the fall were: Bryon Tomek (Tomahawk - boys cross country), Natalie Miller (Three Lakes - girls cross country), Taylor Wissbroecker (Rhinelander - volleyball), Lukas Molski (Pacelli - boys soccer), and Gabi Kitchell (D.C. Everest - girls tennis).
