Update: Hit and Run Driver Caught After Injuring ChildSubmitted: 11/15/2012

RIB MOUNTAIN - UPDATE: Police have found the teenage driver who they say hit a kid and drove off in Rib Mountain today.

A 7-year-old girl was hit shortly after school at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

The 16-year-old driver did not stop at the time. Police found him Thursday night.

The girl was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but officers say she is going to be fine.

--(Previous story): Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who hit and injured three children in the town of Rib Mountain today.

The children were being escorted by a crossing guard through an intersection near Rib Mountain Elementary School when the car hit them.

The driver fled the scene. No vehicle description has been released.

The three students had minor injuries, and one was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Names of the children have not been released.

MINOCQUA - Leaders at the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce believe nearly 17,000 people came to the area for Beef-A-Rama.

Last year, about 15,000 people attended. Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Krystal Westfahl believes the significance of the 50th anniversary celebration played a role.

"It was huge for us to have this 50th anniversary, but I also think the fact that the weather was so great," said Westfahl. "People are just really getting to know the Minocqua area as just being full of life."
