WAUSAU - Section finals throughout the state decided Saturday night in volleyball.
In Division One, Merrill faced Wisconsin Valley foe Marshfield at Wausau East High School. After dropping the first game, Merrill won the next three to win the match, 3-1. The Bluejays are headed to the state tourney for the first time since Ronald Reagan's first term as president, 1982.
In division 2, Tomahawk faced Barron in Altoona. The Hatchets won the match in a sweep. They return to state for the 4th straight year. Last season, Tomahawk finished as the state runner-up in Division 2.
In D-4, Florence met Newman Catholic - the defending section champs in Marion. Newman Catholic won the match 3-zip.
RHINELANDER - Wausau Paper today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its specialty paper business to a new company sponsored by KPS Capital Partners L.P. (“KPS”), a New York-based private equity firm with significant experience in the paper industry.
The new company will be known as Expera Specialty Solutions, LLC (“Expera”).
KPS, as previously announced, has also entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the specialty paper business of Packaging Dynamics Corporation
