Police Arrest Man Linked to Weston Murder Submitted: 10/14/2012
WESTON - A 20-year-old Weston woman was shot and killed Saturday night in her apartment.

Police found Lee Xiong dead inside her home located on the 5100 block of Aspen Street in Weston just after 8 p.m. Saturday.

Neighbors said it was a frightening scene.

Aspen Apartments resident Hua Yang said,"There were like 5 police cars. I was scared when I got home. I was thinking what is happening? Why had this happened and what could happen next."

Both Marathon and Clark County authorities were called for back-up.

Police said they arrested a 21-year-old man in Clark County shortly after police found Xiong’s body.

The suspect is from St. Paul Minnesota and is accused of first degree intentional homicide.

Everest Metropolitan Police Chief Wally Sparks, said "Things like this happen all the time. It’s not very common in Weston. But we have had a number of homicides in the past."

There is no indication that the man broke into Xiong’s apartment.

Wally said the suspect and victim knew each other.

He also said there was one other person in the apartment at the time of the shooting.

The suspect is currently being held in the Marathon County Jail.

Police said he was driving a Ford Truck that was reported stolen from a Wausau car dealership in September.

Two guns were also found in the car and may be linked to other crimes in the area.

"We haven't sorted out all of the other charges. Some of those will obviously come from other jurisdictions because he was apprehended outside of our jurisdiction. We're specifically focusing right now our immediate attention onto the homicide investigation. The other charges and corresponding things will obviously come into play down the road," Wally said.

Because the man may be linked to other crimes, his name has not yet been released.

Police do not believe anyone else was involved in the shooting.

The Everest Metro Police Department will hold a press conference Monday at 10 a.m.

The suspect is expected to appear in court Monday afternoon.
