Judge O'Melia Leaves Child Enticement Case Submitted: 07/09/2012

RHINELANDER - The cases against the Tomahawk man in trouble for asking a 16-year-old girl for sex on Facebook will have a new judge.

Monday, Judge Patrick O'Melia recused himself from both of Abel Jump's cases he was presiding over. Jump indirectly threatened the judge before his bond hearing in the Facebook case.

O'Melia had set bond at $1,500, which Jump has been unable to pay. He now faces a new felony charge of threat or battery to a judge. O'Melia set bond for that at $10,000 cash.

"I'm going to recuse myself on the new matter. There's no specific named threat but it would have an appearance of impropriety if I stayed on that particular case. Frankly, I think I have to get off all cases because the threats were in direct relation to the 12CF143 case," says Judge O'Melia.

Jump's attorney won't enter a plea for either case until a new judge is selected.

Jump has said from the beginning illicit messages were sent by someone else using his Facebook account. He admitted to law enforcement he started the conversation with the girl. But he claims the moment the messages became provocative it was somebody else.

A preliminary hearing for the felony threat to a judge case, and an arraignment for felony child enticement will be set when a new judge is assigned.

The plan would have come up with solutions for specific problems shown by the survey.

SHAWANO COUNTY - We now know the name of the man killed in a one-car crash this week. 75-year-old Leon Felix Wychesit of Gillet died Monday.

He was apparently the passenger in a car driven by Tina Wychesit.

Their car crashed into a tree on North First Street in Bonduel. Responders took both to the hospital.

The 75-year-old man was pronounced dead at the Shawano Medical Center.

There's no word yet if alcohol or speed played roles in the crash.

RHINELANDER - Work on the new Printpack facility in Rhinelander seems to be going smoothly.

The new building is located on Highway 17, a little south of Lincoln Street.

Printpack Human Resources Director Jeremy VanCamp tells us the structure should be done by mid July. But it will take some time to get everything up and running inside.

Equipment will start going in by the end of summer. That will happen in various stages through March 2014.
