ANTIGO - One of the men involved in the Antigo drug ring was found guilty in court today.

The judge showed some leniency toward the former teacher.
The Langlade County judge dismissed half of the twenty six total counts against Scot Peterson. He was found guilty on the remaining thirteen counts, 10 of which require him to serve 6 months in jail plus four years of probation, for manufacturing and distribution of marijuana.

Scot Peterson, former Antigo High coach and retired teacher, was arrested earlier this year in selling marijuana among his friends.

During court today Peterson's character and cooperation were of key concern in his sentencing.

Three men stood and gave speeches on his behalf. Peterson also gave a tear jerking statement to the judge, apologizing for his wrong doing to family, friends, and the community. "I love my parents...(sobbing)...more than words can describe. I believe they will tell you that I've been honest and upfront with them since the beginning of the investigation. I've changed the lives of many of my friends and family members forever, for this I am very sorry. I hope that in due time you will be able to find it in your hearts to forgive me."

Langlade County District Attorney Uttke claimed Peterson was a good man but had fallen from his pedestal. "I believe that my recommendation was fair and reasonable when I asked for one year in the county jail and the judge gave him six months in the county jail. But that’s the judges rule. I am simply there to make my argument for what I felt was right for the community.”

Sentencing on the remaining three counts have been deferred until June 27th, of 2016. If Peterson falters or uses drugs again during his time on probation he could face an additional three and a half years of jail for each deferred count.
