Wausau Murder Suspect Appears in Court Submitted: 06/21/2012

WAUSAU - One of the men accused of beating a Wausau man to death with a baseball bat made his initial appearance in a Marathon County Court Thursday.

Warren Krohn, 20, and Zachary Froehlich, 18, are charged with killing and robbing 49-year old Kerby Kneiss.

Kneiss’ body was discovered Tuesday morning, with severe fractures to his skull, according to Wausau Police Deputy Chief Bryan Hilts.

His roommates found him in the garage of his Wausau home located at 127 7th Avenue.

Krohn is charged with four felonies including first degree reckless homicide and armed robbery, along with one misdemeanor theft charge, according to court documents.

Marathon County Judge Falstad ordered a $250,000 cash bond.

According to the Marathon County District Attorney Kenneth Heimerman, Krohn's prior misdemeanor charges weighed on the states decision to set bond.

As of now Zachary Froehlich’s initial appearance is unknown.

Krohn is scheduled to make his next court appearance June 27th.
