RHINELANDER - Name a committee at the YMCA of the Northwoods and Kathy Powers either runs it or is heavily involved in keeping it alive and thriving.
She brainstorms on committees like the Strong Kids Campaign to provide children with a safe place to play and make friends, while also raising the money to keep them afloat.
She does it all on volunteered time according to Associate Executive Director, Laurie Schlitt. "She doesn't get paid for it, she truly does it out of the kindness of her heart."
A character trait Schlitt says goes a long way, and Powers knows is all about giving back to the community. "You feel great. I mean, you look at them and they're having fun, they're happy, they're enjoying themselves. It's a great feeling."
The YMCA is the leading volunteer organization according to Schlitt, and she says they are always looking for more people.
MERRILL - Farmers in Lincoln and Langlade Counties may need to make a longer drive or call a different office for USDA services.

The Farm Service Agency will move to the Wausau Service Center and the Natural Resources Conservation Service will be relocated to the Rhinelander and Medford Centers.
