EDGAR - The Marawood Conference is sending a player to the Big Ten as Edgar senior Justin Sinz will play for Purdue.
Sinz played quarterback for the Wildcats but will make the switch to tight end for the Boilermakers.
During one of his recruiting trips Sinz was thrown 50 passes and caught 49 of them. That opened scouts eyes.
Sinz helped Edgar win the division six state championship last season and says he felt comfortable in West Lafayette, Indiana.
"I really gelled with the coaches." Justin Sinz said Wednesday morning. "The position coach is a young guy and a fiery guy and I really liked him. The head coach, coach Hope is really turning things around I think in the program. He got most of coach Tiller's players this year but now that he has a couple of his recruits on his own plan he's going to do some good things with them. And the overall atmosphere of their games is spectacular. Fans come out early in the morning dressed up and ready to cheer on the team for home games and that got me excited so I think the actual decision on my hands was pretty easy because everything seemed to fit with Purdue."
"We're very happy for him." adds Justin's father and head coach Jerry Sinz. "He seems really happy with Purdue. He met a lot of their players and their coaches and I think he's really happy with his decision.
After Sinz committed to Purdue in early December he received an offer from Miami of Ohio and a phone call from Northwestern but decided to keep his word and sign with Purdue.
