Callers Jam WI No-Call List Hotline Submitted: 11/30/2009
MADISON - Callers anxious to get their phone numbers
on the state's no-call list are overwhelming state lines set up to take their information.

Today is deadline for callers to have their phone numbers added to the no-call list on Jan. 1.

Missing the deadline means numbers couldn't be added to the list barring telemarketer contact until April 1.

State Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection spokeswoman Donna Gilson says callers were complaining they couldn't get through on the phone to register their numbers.

She says it is normal for the state's 94 lines to be overwhelmed on the four no-call list deadline days each year.

Gilson says callers can either try to call again or register online.

To place a number on the no-call list, call
1-866-966-2255 or go to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection's website.
