ST. CLOUD, MN - Brendan Smith had a goal and an assist and Wisconsin's defense gave up just 19 shots on goal as the Badgers beat St. Cloud State 4-1 for the second straight night Saturday, sweeping the Huskies in the Western Collegiate Hockey
Association.
Smith set the tone for Wisconsin (7-4-1, 5-4-1 WCHA), which outshot the Huskies 33-19. Badgers' goalie Scott Gudmundson made 18 saves, giving up only David Eddy's goal earlier in the first
period.
With the score 1-1 at 14:51 of the second period, John Mitchell beat Dan Dunn for what proved to be game-winner.
Jordy Murray and Patrick Johnson scored in the third period for Wisconsin.
The Badgers' Aaron Bendickson had two assists.
Dunn stopped 29 shots for the Huskies.
