Lakeland Students Making a Movie Submitted: 11/02/2009
MINOCQUA - Hollywood hits Minocqua as a group of Lakeland Union High School students make their own movie.

It's been more than a year in the making and Jory Federighi says, "I wanted to tell stories like that and give other people the feeling I got from that movie."

He's inspired by Indiana Jones and dreams of directing movies.

The movie is called "The Asril". Actor and Lakeland Senior Erik Fashingbauer says the adventure involves a kidnapping and the search for a mysterious object. "My, sort of guardian, who's looked after me my whole life, knows something about this object, and I get kidnapped because they think I know about it and I don't."

About 25-30 students from the high school helped out, involving local businesses and even Lakeland Union High School in the scenes. Actor/Co-Writer, also a Senior at Lakeland, Dan Tyler agrees the many locations were a must.

He tells us, "You just need different locations so you can tell the story better."

Jory, Dan and Erik had to buy the gear and learn how to use it. Fashingbauer says he enjoyed editing the most. "We get to the computer and start throwing it together and it usually looks pretty nice."

Though all the hard work has certainly paid off...Federighi says it didn't happen without help. "We went to the fire dept. on days when we were doing things with explosives, and we had a lot of help from the community."

All in all, it's a big project with sweet rewards. Federighi is happy to have it done. "After everything we just went through and all the stressful filming days, that we actually got it done and made something we can be proud of."

The film will premiere on December 18th at Lakeland Cinema.

Tickets for the event are 5-dollars and DVD copies cost 15-dollars.
