RHINELANDER - The Rhinelander School District is moving toward another possible referendum.
Rhinelander School District Superintendent Roger Erdahl says three options were presented at Monday nights School Board Meeting.
Erdahl says the board decided on Consideration A.
He says this includes two separate questions.
The first question would let the district exceed the tax levy by $1.5 million for the next three years.
He says this would allow the district to continue as is without making drawdowns for financial reasons.
Erdahl says question two would be for a $13.7 million referendum for building upgrades.
He says this would allow the district to make necessary improvements to electrical panels, heating, ventilation and cooling units, as well as replace plumbing and windows.
Erdahl says the key to Consideration A is it would stop all financial drawdowns currently on the table.
He tells Newswatch 12, "It would stop closing buildings, it would stop laying off staff, which are the techniques we currently use to balance our budget."
Erdahl says the next step is for the School Board to decide when a referendum would go on a ballot.
He adds then formal questions would need to be created.
As of right now, Erdahl says there's no timetable on when this will happen.
