The hybrid poplar trees are produced through genetic means and grow faster than normal.
Bryan Lefay of Olympia, Washington, was sentenced to three years in prison for his role in the attack.
Katherine Christianson of Sante Fe, New Mexico, was sentenced to two years in prison for her role.
The federal judge also ordered the two to pay for the damage at the facility.
