EAGLE RIVER - Tonight was a special night for a few Northland Pines graduates. That's because the Eagle River Northland Pines High School Hall of Fame inducted a few very deserving graduates.
The Eagle River Northland Pines High School Hall of Fame inducted it's 6th group of hall of famers tonight.
John Wainwright, the chairman of the hall of fame, says "You get to see the expression on these people's faces and their families and it's just been so rewarding to be a part of this."
One of those families is the Seiferts. Bud Seifert played for the 1935-36 basketball team that was inducted into the hall of fame tonight.
Bud Seifert says "It's an honor."
The 89-year old is the only living member from that team. He still remembers playing ball with one of the team captains.
Bud Seifert says "We did a lot of playing in his backyard which was only dirt."
Bud entertained the crowd tonight by telling stories about the coaches, the games, and of course, giving it to his opponent.
Bud Seifert says "Three Lakes had what they called a pit. And it was pit."
Bud Seifert Jr. says "Those were stories I've never heard. And so I was just as interested as everybody else was to listen to them."
Bud says his teammates would be happy to be in the hall of fame. And his own family is glad he was here to accept the honor for the team.
Bud Seifert says "Everything now that happens is just a wonderful thing to add on to a great life that he's had already."
Also inducted tonight was Eddie Carter, Roger DeWitt, Tracy Fletcher, and Chris Oatman from WRJO Radio.
