Brewers hang on to beat MetsSubmitted: 07/26/2014

MILWAUKEE - Wily Peralta earned his team-leading 12th win, and Mark Reynolds homered in the Milwaukee Brewers' 5-2 victory over the New York Mets on Saturday night.

Jonathan Lucroy, Ryan Braun and Khris Davis added run-scoring hits for NL Central Division-leading Milwaukee. Peralta (12-6) pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up six hits and two runs. He walked three batters and struck out two.

Four relievers held the Mets scoreless the rest of the way. Francisco Rodriguez, who blew a save and took the loss against the Mets on Friday night, recorded his 30th save in 34 chances.

Curtis Granderson had a home run and a double for the Mets. Chris Young added two doubles and reached base three times.

Jonathon Niese (5-6) took the loss, giving up five hits and three runs in five innings. He walked two batters and struck out four.

Rudolph Schleif, 88, and Emily Schleif, 87, were killed from injuries in the crash.

MERRILL - Going back to school can be a fun time. A school in Merrill wants to make sure its students stay safe.

Trinity Lutheran Grade School makes sure its students know the importance of crosswalk safety. 

"Once they're outside they're usually pretty good, "said Jeff Holt.

 "Again understanding how important it is following the safety rules. 

They see what could potentially happen if they don't." Holt is a teacher and safety patrol advisor. 

The safety patrol is run by 25, sixth, seventh and eighth graders.

 The students help get kindergartners onto buses, through car lines, and to their after school programs.

McKenna Skic is one of the youth crossing guards.

WAUSAU - Golfers in Wausau know their money will go to a good cause after Monday.

The Marshfield Clinic teamed up Furniture and Appliance Mart for their 14th annual 'Fore a Cure' golf outing.
 
The outing raises awareness and money for breast cancer detection equipment.

"Some of these golfers have been here 14 years straight. We have a great group and they love it, which is why they come back," said Fore a Cure Event Organizer Bill Fonti. "It's not only the cause and what it's for but it's also the outing itself and it's a great outing."
