Tomahawk's Lampe to wrestle at Team USA Trials in MadisonSubmitted: 05/26/2014
Story By Joe Dufek

- It's been an amazing wrestling career for Tomahawk native Alyssa Lampe.

Back in 2006, Lampe finished second in her weight class at state.

In 2012, she was an alternate for the Olympic team.

This weekend, she has a chance to make Team USA's World Team.

The freestyle team trials will be in Madison.

She has earned a spot in the finals of the Women's 48 kilogram or 105.5 pound weight class.

She will wrestle Saturday night. Her opponent will be who ever wins the tournament which is earlier on Saturday.

That's the scenario Lampe faced in the Olympic trials. Making the finals guaranteed her a trip to the London Games as an alternate. She fell to Clarissa Chun in that final.

If those two meet in the finals, it will be Lampe who will be fresh and only have the one match.

We'll have results and hear from Alyssa Saturday night on Newswatch 12 Weekend.
