EAGLE RIVER - Tonight fans heard the rumble of Friday night racing in the Northwoods.

The Eagle River Speedway officially kicked off their 2014 season with seven divisions competing.

There were 58 different cars and trucks racing tonight. That's the most the track has ever hosted.

All the drivers anxious to test out their machines for the first time this year.

Close to 700 fans were on hand to witness the start of the 40th anniversary season for the speedway.

Everyone took a moment before the racing began to remember the reason we're all celebrating Memorial Day weekend.

The first race of the evening was the junior sprint cars. These drivers are between the ages of 5 and 12 years old but they're still hitting speeds close to 60 miles per hour.

Issac McIntyre in the 49 car made a pass on the second to last lap and McIntyre would hold on to take the checkered flag.
