Reynolds lifts Brewers past Yankees 6-5 in 9thSubmitted: 05/11/2014

MILWAUKEE - Mark Reynolds had a game-ending RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers overcame Francisco Rodriguez's first blown save of the season for a 6-5 win Sunday over the New York Yankees.

Rickie Weeks doubled just inside the first base line with one out before going to third on a wild pitch by reliever Adam Warren (1-2).

Reynolds, who briefly played for New York last year, held his right index finger in the air after his hard chopper bounced past diving third baseman Yangervis Solarte at third to drive in Weeks two batters later. Reynolds then was mobbed by his teammates near first base.

The Yankees were one strike away from defeat when Mark Teixeira reached out for a low and away, full-count pitch from Rodriguez for a homer to right. It was the first run allowed all season by the veteran closer.

Update-Inmate captured after failing to return to jailSubmitted: 09/30/2014

MARATHON COUNTY - An inmate who didn't return to jail from Huber release will now get a chance to think about his mistake.

The Marathon County Sheriff's department confirms inmate Tommie Rothenberger has been captured.

He was found in Waupaca County around 5:30 last night.

Rothenberger was let out of the Marathon County Jail Friday morning to go to school at Northcentral Technical College.

MADISON - 55 people in Wisconsin died last year from domestic violence.

The organization End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin looked at the numbers. They found the following statistics:


- About one person every week died from domestic violence in 2013. 39 of the deaths were homicide victims.

-12 abusers took their own lives.

RHINELANDER - About 62 million Americans got their flu shot as of September 19.

Health leaders believe that the flu shot is the best way to prevent getting sick this season.

Pharmacies and clinics in the Northwoods are prepared to hand out flu shots.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say manufacturers believe 151-159 million doses of flu vaccine will be produced this season.

WISCONSIN - Cranberry growers don't expect another unprecedented harvest, but the industry does expect to keep Wisconsin's cranberry crown.

Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association Executive Director Tom Lochner says the state should produce 5.3 million barrels of cranberries from the 2014 harvest. Lochner says a barrel holds 100 pounds of cranberries.

The state produced 5.8 million barrels in 2013. Lochner credits the weather in September 2013 for that large harvest.

Jackson police use anti-heroin drug to revive manSubmitted: 09/29/2014

JACKSON, WI - Jackson police have used the drug Narcan to counter a suspected heroin overdose two weeks after the department received its first Narcan kits.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/1pBraGP ) police found a Milwaukee man unconscious on a commuter bus. An officer noticed his pupils were constricted and administered a dose of Narcan into the man's nose.

Police say the man regained consciousness around two minutes later and was able to communicate with authorities. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
