ACROSS WISCONSIN - Last Saturday police departments across the state collected prescription pills. It was a part of the National Prescription Drug "Take-Back" Day. Now, law enforcement, as well as residents, are getting recognition for ranking third in the nation for collecting the drugs.

Wisconsin law enforcements gathered more than 50 thousand pounds of unwanted, expired and unused prescription pills.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Wisconsin ranked third in the nation.

California and Texas are the top two states.

The attorney general and DNR praises everyone who helped out last weekend.

RHINELANDER - Federal officials are looking for people to join two Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest advisory committees.

One committee serves the Chequamegon portion of the forest in northwestern Wisconsin. The other serves the Nicolet portion in northeastern Wisconsin. Both panels work to improve relationships between forest users and advise forestry officials on which projects to undertake and spending.

Each committee is made up of 15 members who represent diverse interest groups. Members must be Wisconsin residents and be willing to serve a four-year term.

Thanksgiving can start weight gain for many people across the country. Dieticians like Jennifer Mikulich with Aspirus say this is the time of year when some patients avoid their dieticians. She believes the key to a healthy day is a balanced plate.

"You know have a balance between those foods that have some carbohydrates and those foods that don't," Mikulich said. "If you're somebody that is a really big sweet eater and you know there is pecan pie and pumpkin pie, well maybe you won't have the dinner roll and the mashed potatoes."
