Update: Power restored to more than 1,400 in Marathon County

WAUSAU - Power was restored to all customers at 4:20 p.m.

The cause of the outage was a faulty insulator.

March 27, 2014 3:04 p.m.

More than 1,400 people in Marathon County lost power Thursday afternoon.

Wisconsin Public Service reports 1,428 customers in Hately, the town of Wausau, Ringle and the Town of Hewitt, lost power around 2:40 p.m.

Crews have been dispatched to the area to patrol a long line, according to WPS spokeswoman Kelly Zagrzebski.

They don't yet know what caused the outage.
