Funds stolen from BMX clubSubmitted: 02/28/2014
Story By Matt Brooks

RHINELANDER - Leaders of the Hodag BMX Club in Rhinelander tell us others involved with the group have been stealing its money.

The money targeted was for the maintenance of the BMX track and it's day-to-day operations.

The club wouldn't tell us exactly how much was taken from the account.

The people suspected of being involved are gone from the club and an investigation is underway.

"Now it's important for us to let our sponsors of past, future, and current know these funds that are missing aren't the funds that we received from sponsorship," said Track Operator Robbie Deede. "They're the funds that we earned over the 14 years of running the track."

Members and supporters of the club are working hard to make sure the children involved with the Hodag BMX Club aren't affected.

"The most important thing to us to share with everyone is that this organization, this club is all about the kids, the youth and the community and making sure that have this outlet available to them at Westside Park," said Deede. "We want to encourage and ask our sponsors, community, and supporters and let them know that we need you now more than ever and thank you very much for being supportive."

A Bowl-athon fundraiser will be held at Hodag Lanes next Friday from 6-9 pm.
